Some of my favorite memories as a child are those from the days I spent roaming the halls of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art in Kansas City with my aunt, who ran the children's programs. Surrounded by art and creativity, I dreamed of becoming a painter from an early age. Instead, I took the practical path. I received a degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri and spent 20 years in the advertising industry. In the last few years, I've finally had the time to spend focusing and developing as a painter, and it has been a passion that has been more fulfilling than I ever imagined. I hope you find as much joy in my work as I do.
As an abstract artist working in acrylic, mixed-media and oils, I have a passion for bold and beautiful color. Painting helps me express my love of the world around me, and the color, movement and energy of the work brings emotion to the canvas. I draw inspiration from places I love, patterns I find in nature, and the small moments in life that I'm inspired to record in brilliant color. I have studied painting throughout the years at the Kansas City Art Institute, the Leo Marchutz school of painting in Aix-en-Provence, France, and more recently with artists such as Casey Klahn, Ken Elliott, Philomene Bennett, Barry Thomas, Samantha Buller and Ada Koch.
